Malamala Beach Club, Fiji

The worlds first island beach club, and just a 30 minute ferry ride from Port Denarau, this makes for a perfect day trip in Fiji. The island boasts a lush tropical laid back atmosphere, warm white sand, a fantastic reef system for snorkeling.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by welcoming staff and an easy check in process. Guests are assigned a numbered card to use throughout the day for a tab, then given towels and left to explore the tiny spec of an island. The accommodations offer something for every kind of traveller; an infinity pool and pool deck with plush loungers and umbrellas, beachside bean bags and low chairs, cabanas, and even and adult only section. Fun photo opportunities and little discoveries are sprinkled throughout, like their beach swing and little tree groves.
The food options are diverse and delicious. The drinks were inventive and yummy, but a little on the weak side. Of course all food in Fiji is expensive and this island is no exception. You can play beach volleyball, or use one of the club’s kayaks or stand up paddle boards for no extra cost. And if that sounds like too much activity, you can absolutely just lay around soaking up the rays all day, basking in the salty air.
Lily and Julie loved lounging around with their fruity drinks and soaking in the pool. Clara and Colby enjoyed the fantastic reef snorkeling and I loved wandering and exploring the nooks and crannies of the tiny haven. Since we had all day, I was a teenie bit worried we would get bored, but the hours passed so quickly and it ended up being just the right amount of time.
As our day came to a close, shower options allowed us to rinse and refresh before boarding the ferry back to the mainland. The checkout process was easy with our numbered card, and soon we were watching the island fade in the distance. A perfect Fijian day at Malamala Beach Club.
